Global Responsibility

"As we draw the benefits and resources from society and the enviroment, we must leave them in better shape than when we started. Our motto for boat building has been 'to build each boat better than the one before, and we make that same commitment to the world around us: we endeavor to make each day a little better for society and the enviroment."
-John Cheuh

Wood Plantation

Since 1994 Alexander Marine has purchased more than 1,000 acres of pine plantation near Napier, New Zealand. We see these trees as a long-term investment in our environment because it makes renewable resources available for furniture, pulp and other industry. From planting to harvest, the typical pine tree life cycle is 25 years. In that amount of time, our 1,000-acre plantation will have sequestered more than 20,000 tons of carbon dioxide and provided more than 30,000 tons of saleable wood.

Recycling Efforts

Making fine motor yachts gives us exciting opportunities for recycling and reuse throughout our manufacturing process.

Wood Products

Our wood scraps and cabinetry byproducts are reformed into other products. Naturally, our first-grade teak is much sought after as the basis for other luxury and non-luxury uses.

Water Conservation

We're fortunate to have our factories in zones that accumulate significant rainfall. We collect rainwater and use it in a variety of ways that conserve municipal fresh water For example, we use rainwater for washing down workshop floors, flushing toilets, watering our landscaping and more. It's costly to set up a water conservation system as extensive as ours, but in the longer term, it not only helps our bottom line, it vastly helps the environment.

Acetone / Paint Thinner Reclamation

By contrast to our water collection system, the acetone/paint thinner reclamation machines we've invested in for our factories in Kaohsiung and Shanghai provide no significant economic benefit to the company, but they allow us to reuse potentially toxic chemicals that might otherwise pollute our environment We can reduce the amount of acetone and paint thinner we need to do the exacting work we do, all without affecting the exquisite quality of our final product.

Other Products

Alexander Marine recycles its paper products, metal products, wood products, and used acetone and paint thinner In addition, we recover and reuse barrel drums in our factory production.
